History

Loving horses passionately, our family were lucky enough to practice horse riding for several years. Today, only our son, Mathieu, is competing with Kaline de Lepesse, sired by Arpière Pierreville.

In 2001, we met Marithé and Hervé Layec in Lamotte Beuvron. Both photographers during horse competitions, they also own a line whose progeny is performing really well at international level, in particular those sired by Galoubet A, of whom they were shareholders. Our breeding history started with the purchase of a lovely fily called Neige d’Orion, sired by Funchal de Semilly and out of Udelle d’Orion sired by Neptune d’Alary.

When she was three years old, she was stabled at Aurélin Laguide’s facilities. She was broken and then inseminated by Quito de Baussy, also stationed at the breeding farm that year. She gave birth to a lovely back fily, Rikkou, and then started training at the age of five years but unfortunately died of colics. Breeding is not always rewarding…

Halloween, whom we then bought so that our children could practice horse-ball, proved really talented at jumping. She was a most faithful and remarkable companion who gave us much joy. She stopped competing during our children’s teens and because she could be a good mare, we decided to have her reproduce. She gave birth to two foals and is now bringing lots of joy to another child on competition grounds.

In the meantime, and after serious discussions with experienced horse breeders (they will know themselves!), we set ourselves an objective: breeding a few horses but of the very best quality!

In 2004, still with the Layec family, we fell in love with a tall fily, called Quiria d’Orion sired by Calvaro, stationed at the Haras Nationaux de Blois (France) for 3 years, and out of Bahia d’Orion sired by Grand Veneur.

Still, a good female line is not enough. Having been going to Normandy at regular intervals, we have come to meet Marie-Ange and Pierre Le Boulanger, based in Colomby, who now count amongst the best French breeders. We have become close and bought them a daughter of Quaprice du Bois Margot and a remarkable mare, Gazelle de Brekka, in 2005.

The foundations of horse breeding have developed both from the genetic viewpoint and from that of the partnerships established (veterinary care, breeding, training, semen management). In this respect, we have entrusted breeding and inseminations to Aurélien and Elodie Laguide who are based in Taponas (Domaine de Laye).

We now have to make it work… Our dream is that of all breeders: seeing eventually one of our “small ones” compete in the best international jumping competitions.
